Maggie Mount
The Maggie Mount is an antenna
mount with a magnet in the base and a female SMA connector at the top. A coax
cable exiting near the bottom with up to10 feet of cable connects to a
transmitter or receiver. A quarter wave
whip antenna with an SMA connector (antenna with SMA connector not included)
screws into the top. This makes the
Maggie Mount usable with any UHF frequency system.
It is ideally suited to bring the transmitter antenna from the inside of a car to the outside
for mounting the antenna to the hood, roof, trunk, or side of the car in an
inconspicuous place. Or to move the antenna to a higher elevation or around a corner. It is equally
useful on a transmitter or receiver. In
addition, the surface the Maggie is mounted to is generally large compared to
UHF wavelengths and therefore is an excellent ground plane giving the quarter
wave whip antenna greater range.
Using a
female SMA connector at the top of the Maggie Mount allows any length quarter
wave whip to be used; hence one Maggie is good for use with all your UHF
systems. It also stows more
compactly.
The Maggie
may be ordered with a male SMA on the cable or with a male BNC. SMA’s are generally preferred for use with
transmitters and many types of receivers.
BNC’s are generally used with receivers.
50 ohm RF connector adapters of the appropriate sex may be used to adapt
to other antenna connectors.
Maggie’s
can also easily remote the antennas on the rear of rack mounted receivers to
get the antenna outside of the metal rack.
The Maggie
Mount magnet is powerful. It can be used
on a non magnetic surface, such as an aluminum or plastic car body, by placing
a large steel washer underneath the surface where the Maggie is to be
positioned.
. The cable
is RG 174, 50 Ohm, for flexibility and ruggedness. And may be ordered with a stock
cable length of 10 feet, 6 feet, or 3 feet and terminated with a male SMA or
male BNC connector. ... and it's made in the USA!
